Starting Monday, June 29th, 2015 Willimantic Waste will start servicing the entire City of Norwich for both trash and Recycling. Your New Cart

All residents who currently receive garbage and/or recycling services will be switched to automated collection and will receive 1 95 gallon cart for trash and 1 95 gallon cart for recycling.

Collection and Recycling Schedule

Collection schedules are still being developed and are expected to be finalized in May. Once the collection schedule has been made you will be able to view it on the City of Norwich website as well as the Willimantic Waste website.  Every effort will be made to keep collection days the same as they are now, but some changes are unavoidable.

Effective June 29th, 2015 Recycling will change from every week to every other week. The 95 gallon cart for trash will be picked up every week while the 95 gallon cart for recycling will only be picked up every other week.

Automated Collection

Automated garbage & recycling is a new method collections household garbage and recyclables where customers (residents) are provided specific heavy duty garbage and recycling carts that allow waste to be collected by a specialized truck. Many Surround Towns and several citites around Connecticut have successfully switched to automated collection in recent years.
